Overview:
Our client, a well-established textile mill, is seeking a highly experienced Head of Laboratory to lead their dyeing lab operations. This senior-level role is ideal for a professional with in-depth expertise in textile dyeing, color recipe development, and lab-to-bulk production coordination. The candidate must be hands-on with lab-scale dyeing equipment and possess strong leadership in R&D and team development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Color Development & Matching

  • Develop accurate, reproducible dye recipes as per customer standards and production requirements.
  • Oversee lab-to-bulk transfer ensuring color consistency and fastness.
  • Use digital color matching systems such as Datacolor and Spectrophotometers for recipe optimization.

2. Research & Process Development

  • Lead R&D initiatives for new dyeing techniques and cost-effective solutions.
  • Evaluate and introduce sustainable and eco-friendly dyeing practices.
  • Test and implement new dyestuffs, auxiliaries, and chemicals with technical teams.

3. Lab Equipment & Small-Scale Dyeing

  • Operate and supervise small-batch dyeing machines (IR dyeing units, low liquor machines).
  • Ensure calibration, maintenance, and accurate operation of all lab equipment.

4. Quality Assurance & Color Fastness

  • Ensure compliance with AATCC, ISO, and other international standards for color fastness.
  • Review test results and collaborate with production teams to address quality concerns.

5. Lab to Production Coordination

  • Support production teams to ensure accurate lab-to-bulk shade reproducibility.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to shade variations and dyeing process deviations.

6. Team Management & Training

  • Manage and mentor a team of colorists and lab technicians.
  • Conduct regular training on best practices, innovation in dyeing, and safety protocols.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in a textile dyeing lab environment (woven/knit fabric).
  • Expertise in color matching, recipe development, and lab-to-bulk transfer.
  • Strong knowledge of digital color measurement tools and dyeing standards.
  • Proven leadership in R&D and team management.
  • Familiarity with eco-friendly practices and sustainable dyeing initiatives.
