Job Description: Senior Strategist – Clean Energy

Tara Climate Foundation is seeking a Senior Strategist for Clean Energy to lead the development and implementation of strategies that accelerate clean energy adoption across Asia (excluding India and China). This full-time role involves working closely with country leads, partners, and stakeholders to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and monitor implementation of clean energy and energy efficiency strategies aligned with Tara’s organizational goals.
  • Develop forward-looking regional strategies addressing renewable energy zones, grids, policy frameworks, and community engagement.
  • Support country teams in integrating clean energy priorities into grantmaking and programs.
  • Build and maintain strong networks with NGOs, think tanks, governments, foundations, and businesses.
  • Manage regional grantmaking budgets, support grantees, and monitor project outcomes.
  • Facilitate training and skill-sharing programs with partners.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to leverage synergies in diplomacy, supply chains, corporate procurement, and communications.
  • Provide strategic advice, risk assessment, and reporting to senior management.

Person Specification:

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in clean energy or related sectors.
  • Proven ability to design and implement complex strategies responsive to evolving challenges.
  • Deep knowledge of wind and solar energy deployment barriers and enablers in Southeast, South, and East Asia (excluding China and India).
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; additional regional languages a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly across international time zones.
  • Experience working in multicultural and international teams is preferred.
  • Advanced degree or expertise in renewable energy, environmental management, business administration, economics, or sustainable development.
