Job Description: Infrastructure Engineer (Wet & Dry Utilities)

Consultant CHSS , a leading design consultancy in Abu Dhabi, is seeking a high-caliber Infrastructure Engineer specialized in both Wet and Dry Utilities . This role is critical for the master planning and detailed design of the essential services that power and sustain urban developments.

As a Utility Engineer, you will manage the dual challenge of designing “Wet” systems (fluid-based) and “Dry” systems (cable-based). You will act as the technical architect ensuring these networks do not conflict in the crowded underground corridors of Abu Dhabi’s infrastructure. Your role is highly collaborative, requiring you to navigate the complex landscape of authority approvals ( ADDC, ADSSC, Etisalat, etc. ) to move projects from the drawing board to reality. If you have a solid engineering pedigree and a track record of securing utility NOCs (No Objection Certificates) in the UAE, this role offers a strategic position in the capital’s development sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrated Design: Design and review comprehensive infrastructure systems, ensuring seamless integration between wet utilities (Water, Sewer, Storm, Irrigation) and dry utilities (Power, Telecom, Lighting).

• Authority Coordination: Lead the approval process with Abu Dhabi Authorities Having Jurisdiction ( AHJ ). This includes preparing submittals for ADDC, AADC, ADSSC/ADQ, and DMT .

• Technical Documentation: Prepare and validate hydraulic calculations, demand load schedules, design drawings, and technical specifications in accordance with Abu Dhabi Utility Standards .

• Project Oversight: Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements. Provide technical support during construction to resolve on-site utility clashes.

• Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work with road engineers, urban planners, and landscape architects to ensure utility corridors are optimized and accessible for maintenance.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering .

• Experience: Minimum 7 years of total experience in infrastructure engineering, with at least 2 years specifically in a design consultancy role in Abu Dhabi.

• Regulatory Mastery: Proven hands-on experience with Abu Dhabi’s utility authority approval workflows and design guidelines.

• Software Proficiency: Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS , or similar hydraulic modeling software.

• Communication: Strong technical writing skills and the ability to negotiate with government authorities and contractors.
