KBR , a global leader in high-end engineering and mission-critical services, is seeking a Specialist Lifting Operation Engineer for a high-stakes Project Management Consultancy (PMC) role in Abu Dhabi. This position is central to a Mega Offshore Topside Project (valued over US$ 1 Billion), focusing on the complex logistical and structural challenges of a fabrication yard environment.

As a Specialist Engineer, you are the technical authority responsible for the “Critical Path” of heavy construction: the lifting and movement of massive offshore structures. You will bridge the gap between structural design and site execution, ensuring that every multi-crane lift, load-out, and rigging operation is mathematically sound and operationally safe. In the fabrication yard, where precision is measured in millimeters and loads in thousands of tons, your expertise in load path analysis and structural stability is the ultimate safeguard.

Key Responsibilities

• Critical Lifting Strategy: Design, model, and validate complex, non-routine lifting plans for offshore topside modules and heavy equipment.

• Engineering Analysis: Perform precise load calculations, determine the Center of Gravity (CoG) under dynamic conditions, and conduct structural stability assessments for both the load and the lifting vessel/crane.

• Site & Fabrication Oversight: Conduct detailed site surveys to evaluate ground bearing capacity and spatial constraints. Provide real-time engineering support during heavy lift executions and crane positioning.

• Rigging Design: Select and verify the integrity of specialized rigging gear, ensuring factors of safety are maintained for all slings, shackles, and spreader beams.

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations strictly adhere to international maritime and offshore standards, including LOLER , ASME B30 , and BS EN .

• Risk Mitigation: Review and approve Method Statements and Risk Assessments. Lead the investigation of any lifting-related incidents to ensure continuous improvement in safety protocols.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or Structural preferred) is mandatory.

• Industry Experience: Minimum 17+ years in the Oil & Gas industry, with a focus on EPC or Detailed Engineering.

• Specialized Experience: At least 5 years of dedicated experience in heavy lifting operations within industrial or offshore fabrication yards.

• Mega-Project Background: Must have at least 5 years of experience in a similar specialist role on Mega Projects (>$1 Billion USD) .

• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of structural mechanics, rigging techniques, and international maritime safety regulations.
