Job Description: Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SatDevOps)
Orbitworks , a pioneering joint venture between Marlan Space and Loft Orbital, is redefining the space industry from its 50,000-square-foot facility in Abu Dhabi. We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer who doesn’t just want to manage servers, but wants to apply DevOps principles to spacecraft control.
This is not your typical SRE role. You will be the architect of the “Ground Segment,” building the hybrid cloud infrastructure that communicates with and controls shareable satellites in orbit. You will bridge the gap between terrestrial IT and celestial operations, ensuring that the software controlling our satellites is as reliable as the hardware itself. Key Responsibilities

SatDevOps Leadership: Collaborate with satellite operators and developers to foster a “SatDevOps” culture, automating the bridge between ground code and orbital execution.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design and maintain scalable, secure infrastructure in a hybrid cloud environment (ideally GCP ) using tools like Terraform or Ansible.

Kubernetes Orchestration: Lead the architecture and optimization of Kubernetes clusters to handle mission-critical space operations and testing workloads.

Observability & Monitoring: Own the Grafana-centric observability stack (Prometheus, Loki, Tempo) to track system health from the server room in Abu Dhabi to our payloads in low Earth orbit.

Network Engineering: Partner with teams to design Software Defined Network (SDN) solutions, managing the complex links between cloud, ground stations, and hardware.

Reliability & RCA: Proactively identify system bottlenecks, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) frameworks, and implement permanent fixes.

Automation: Streamline the developer experience by building CI/CD pipelines that handle deployments on Earth and, eventually, updates in space.
Qualifications & Requirements

Cloud & K8s Mastery: Deep expertise in GCP and Kubernetes architecture, including resource optimization and cluster security.

DevOps DNA: Proven track record in CI/CD, IaC, and GitOps frameworks (ArgoCD/FluxCD).

Programming: Proficiency in Go or Python is essential for building custom tooling and automation.

Networking Guru: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, and Software Defined Networking (SDN).

Reliability Mindset: Experience with observability stacks (Grafana, Prometheus) and formal reliability methodologies like FMEA .

Systems Experience: Deep background in Linux systems administration and a proactive, “owner” mindset.
