Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Bureau Veritas

Job Description: Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Are you a master of ground engineering ready to stabilize the foundations of the UAE’s most ambitious infrastructure? Bureau Veritas, a world leader in testing, inspection, and certification, is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead our high-stakes consultancy team in Abu Dhabi.

In this role, you will be the final authority on soil and rock mechanics, turning raw subsurface data into the engineered certainty required for massive construction projects. You won’t just oversee boreholes; you will architect foundation strategies, analyze slope stability for critical earthworks, and lead ground improvement projects that ensure long-term structural safety. As a senior leader, you will bridge the gap between complex geological analysis and the practical needs of clients and contractors, serving as a technical mentor within one of the world’s most respected engineering firms.

Your Technical & Ground Engineering Mission

Advanced Design & Analysis

  • Predictive Calculation: Lead complex geotechnical designs for deep foundations (piles), retaining structures, and large-scale earthworks.

  • Stability Mastery: Conduct advanced slope stability assessments and seismic risk evaluations using state-of-the-art software.

  • Value Engineering: Resolve complex ground issues through innovative design, offering cost-effective and safe alternatives to traditional foundation methods.

Investigation & Reporting

  • Field Supervision: Architect and supervise comprehensive site investigations, interpreting field data from SPT, CPT, and boreholes to build high-fidelity geological models.

  • Technical Synthesis: Prepare high-level interpretative reports, specifications, and design documents that serve as the technical blueprint for multidisciplinary teams.

  • Data Management: Utilize gINT and other logging tools to manage and interpret vast datasets of soil and rock properties.

Project & Team Leadership

  • Strategic Project Management: Own geotechnical deliverables from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with budgets and global safety/environmental standards.

  • Stakeholder Synergy: Act as the primary technical liaison between Bureau Veritas and high-profile clients, contractors, and structural engineers.

  • Mentorship: Cultivate the next generation of engineers, providing hands-on technical guidance and professional development to junior staff.

What You Bring to Bureau Veritas

  • Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.

  • Veteran Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical investigation and design, ideally within the Middle East region.

  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is highly preferred.

  • Software Fluency: Expert-level proficiency in PLAXIS, Seequent GeoStudio, and gINT.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with international and local codes (ASTM, Eurocodes, BS, and Abu Dhabi Municipality standards).

  • Resilience: The ability to move seamlessly between office-based modeling and demanding on-site field inspections across uneven terrain.
