Job Description: Senior Electrical Engineer (Healthcare Specialist)

Are you a technical leader with a passion for precision and a track record of delivering critical infrastructure? Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our elite site team in Abu Dhabi.

In this role, you will be the primary technical authority for the electrical scope of high-profile construction projects, with a specific focus on Healthcare facilities. You will navigate the complexities of mission-critical power systems, ensuring every installation—from emergency backup generators to sensitive medical equipment circuits—conforms to international standards and Abu Dhabi authority requirements. As a senior leader, you will bridge the gap between complex design submittals and site-level execution, ensuring a seamless transition from start-up to final commissioning and handover.

Your Technical & Supervisory Mission

Design Review & Construction Administration

• Technical Governance: Review, approve, and process all electrical technical submittals, ensuring they align with contract documents and the procedures manual.

• Problem Solving: Act as the primary respondent for RFIs (Requests for Information), providing technical clarity to keep the electrical scope on schedule.

• Change & Claims Management: Analyze contractor change order proposals and claims, preparing expert recommendations for the MEP Project Manager.

Site Oversight & Quality Control

• MEP Coordination: Supervise and synchronize all MEP activities, ensuring electrical systems integrate perfectly with mechanical and plumbing services.

• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of electrical inspectors, providing guidance on inspection protocols and quality standards.

• Testing & Analysis: Analyze laboratory and testing reports for materials and systems to verify compliance with project specifications.

Commissioning & Handover

• System Start-up: Monitor the start-up, testing, and commissioning of complex electrical systems, including LV/MV distribution, lighting controls, and fire alarms.

• Project Closure: Inspect completed works, manage the sign-off process, and ensure all “As-Built” documentation is accurate and complete for the final handover to the client.

What You Bring to Stantec

• Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Veteran Experience: 15+ years of total experience, with at least 5 years in the Middle East and 4 years specifically in Construction Administration within the UAE.

• Healthcare Expertise: Proven experience in the design and supervision of Healthcare projects (Hospitals, Clinics, or Labs).

• Consultancy Pedigree: Experience working within a top-tier International Consulting Firm.

• Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of electrical design codes, authority requirements (ADDC/AADC), and international healthcare standards.

• Soft Skills: Excellent command of English (written and oral) and proficiency in Microsoft Office solutions for reporting and documentation.
