Job Description: Quantity Surveyor (Civil)
A prominent construction firm in Abu Dhabi is seeking a seasoned Quantity Surveyor (Civil) to manage the commercial and financial heart of their civil engineering projects. This role requires a professional who balances high-level financial strategy with the technical “nitty-gritty” of site measurements and contract law.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the project’s financial health from the initial tender (Pre-Contract) through to the final account (Post-Contract). You will utilize advanced tools like PlanSwift to perform precise “take-offs” and ensure that every cubic meter of concrete and ton of steel is accounted for. In the competitive Abu Dhabi construction market, your ability to negotiate subcontracts and manage cash flow is vital to maintaining project profitability.
Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare meticulous cost estimates and baseline budgets based on project drawings and specifications.

Feasibility & Risk: Conduct financial feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential cost overruns before they happen.

Post-Contract Management: Manage interim valuations, variations, and progress billings to ensure steady cash flow.

Subcontractor Management: Negotiate terms with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring legal compliance and cost-efficiency.

Technical Take-offs: Use PlanSwift and AutoCAD to extract quantities for civil works, including earthworks, substructures, and superstructures.

Site Monitoring: Conduct regular site inspections to verify that physical progress matches the financial claims submitted by subcontractors.

Reporting: Generate periodic financial status reports, highlighting budget variances (CVR – Cost Value Reconciliation) for stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering .

Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience within the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) region, demonstrating deep knowledge of local market rates and regulations.

Software Mastery: Expert proficiency in PlanSwift (for digital take-offs) and AutoCAD .

Domain Expertise: Proven track record in both Estimation (Tendering) and Post-Contract works.

Language: Fluency in English is mandatory.
