Job Description: Project Engineer (Design, Tender & Engineering Department)

Boskalis , a global leader in dredging, maritime infrastructure, and marine services, is seeking a Project Engineer for its Design, Tender & Engineering Department (DTED) in Abu Dhabi. As a Project Engineer at Boskalis, you will be at the front end of massive maritime projects—from land reclamation and port construction to subsea protection. You will be responsible for the technical integrity of tenders and live projects, developing creative engineering solutions that balance cost, safety, and environmental impact. This role requires a unique blend of office-based design and field-based advisory, often involving international travel to project sites. Key Responsibilities

• Tender & Project Design: Independently draft technical specifications and procedures for dredging and marine construction tenders, ensuring compliance with client and contract requirements.

• Engineering Solutions: Develop innovative technical designs and alternative solutions to minimize project risks and optimize hydraulic performance.

• Stakeholder Management: Present and defend technical solutions to external customers and inspectors, proving feasibility, safety, and regulatory compliance.

• Project Controls: Define the scope of engineering work, including personnel planning and budgeting. Monitor progress and identify deviations in cost, quality, or time.

• Field Support: Provide technical and logistical support on-site during project execution, ensuring the “as-built” reality matches the engineering intent.

• Mentorship: Lead and coach small engineering teams, fostering professional growth through the Boskalis Academy and hands-on guidance.

• Continuous Improvement: Evaluate engineering processes and implement “lessons learned” to improve departmental efficiency and safety.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (specialization in Hydraulic Engineering is highly preferred).

• Experience: Relevant experience in marine engineering, dredging, or offshore construction. Familiarity with marine professional software and hydraulic models is a major plus.

• Skills: Advanced proficiency in ICT and planning applications; Basic knowledge of CAD/drawing applications.

• Mobility: High level of flexibility to travel and work overseas for site visits or project assignments.

• Language: Excellent command of written and spoken English.

• Personal Attributes: Strong problem-solving skills, sense of ownership, and the ability to work independently within a large international matrix.
