Job Description: Process Engineer – Sulfur Recovery (Relocation to Saudi Arabia)
Are you an expert in the Claus process ready to join the world’s most profitable energy enterprise? Aramco is seeking a high-caliber Process Engineer specializing in Sulfur Recovery Units (SRU) for a residential expatriate role at the Jafurah Gas Plant in Saudi Arabia.
This isn’t just an operations role; it’s a technical leadership position within the Jafurah Gas Plant Engineering Division (JGPED). You will be the primary authority managing the processing of shale gas and NGLs, ensuring that sulfur recovery is optimized for both environmental compliance and operational efficiency. From HYSYS simulation to leading large-scale shutdowns and startups, you will drive the strategies that power one of the most significant gas projects in the region.
Key Responsibilities

SRU Operational Excellence: Manage and optimize the operations of Sulfur Recovery Units, performing rigorous mass balances and performance audits to ensure design parameters are met.

Simulation & Modeling: Develop high-fidelity simulation models using Aspen HYSYS and flow assurance software to predict unit behavior and design modifications.

Safety & Risk Management: Lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and HAZOP studies. Manage the Management of Change (MOC) process and implement critical safety recommendations.

Technical Leadership: Lead teams of engineers during critical plant startup and shutdown phases. Provide mentorship and troubleshooting support for equipment such as pumps, compressors, and dehydration systems.

Strategy & Optimization: Formulate long-term energy conservation and cost-reduction strategies. Participate in technical committees to interpret and refine industry standards (API/ASME).

Project Support: Review detailed design packages for new facilities and update Operations Instruction Manuals (OIM) to reflect “best-in-class” engineering practices.
What You Bring to Aramco

Expertise: 10 to 15 years of professional engineering experience specifically focused on Sulfur Recovery .

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized and approved program.

Technical Tools: Mastery of Aspen HYSYS , PFD/P&ID creation, and failure analysis (Sequence of Event reporting).

Code Knowledge: In-depth understanding of API and ASME codes and their application in gas processing environments.

Leadership Grit: Proven ability to lead capacity tests, equipment performance tests, and multi-disciplinary engineering groups in high-pressure environments.
