Job Description: Principal Engineering Manager (AI/LLM)

A leading Technology Solutions Provider in Abu Dhabi (represented by Discovered MENA ) is seeking a visionary Principal Engineering Manager to spearhead the development of next-generation AI systems. This is a high-impact leadership role designed for an expert who can navigate the complexities of Large Language Models (LLMs) while managing a multidisciplinary team of front-end, back-end, and ML engineers.

In this position, you will bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and commercial deployment. You will not only lead the internal engineering roadmap but also act as a technical consultant for high-value clients, ensuring that advanced AI solutions are seamlessly integrated into their existing tech stacks. Your mission is to foster a culture of innovation while maintaining a strict focus on ethical AI development and scalable infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Multidisciplinary Leadership: Mentor and lead a team of full-stack and ML engineers to deliver high-stakes AI projects from conception to production.

• Strategic AI Roadmap: Define the technical direction for the company’s AI initiatives, focusing on Transformer-based architectures and LLM integration.

• Client Engagement: Lead deep-dive technical discussions with customers, translating complex AI concepts into actionable strategies for non-technical stakeholders.

• Engineering Excellence: Implement best practices for model development, experiment tracking, and robust deployment (LLMOps).

• Innovation & Research: Stay at the forefront of AI research, incorporating the latest trends while ensuring ethical safeguards are met in critical sectors.

• Operational Management: Take ownership of project timelines and budgets, ensuring the efficient scaling of distributed computing resources.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.

• Experience: 5+ years in AI/ML engineering with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.

• Technical Expertise: Deep proficiency in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Deep Learning. Hands-on experience with Transformer architectures (eg, GPT, BERT, Llama) is mandatory.

• Coding: Expert-level Python skills and mastery of frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow .

• Infrastructure: Proven experience with large-scale distributed computing and managing high-performance ML infrastructure.

• Portfolio: A track record of peer-reviewed publications or patents in the field of AI is highly desirable.
