Job Description: PMC Engineer (Commissioning I&C)

Wood (represented via EHIF), a global leader in consulting and engineering, is seeking a PMC Engineer for Commissioning (Instrumentation & Control) in Abu Dhabi. This role is part of Wood’s “Oil, Gas & New Energies” business, which focuses on delivering large-scale, complex projects ranging from traditional upstream assets to cutting-edge decarbonization and electrification facilities.

As a PMC (Project Management Consultancy) Engineer, you will act as the owner’s representative, overseeing the FEED/EPC contractor’s work. You are the final technical gatekeeper, ensuring that every sensor, control valve, and logic loop in the Distributed Control System (DCS) and Emergency Shutdown System (ESD) is calibrated, tested, and ready for safe operation. Your goal is a “Steady and Predictable” startup that transitions the facility from a construction site to a live, energy-producing asset.

Key Responsibilities

• Commissioning Oversight: Lead and enforce the I&C commissioning scope, ensuring the contractor meets the project schedule and technical objectives.

• Technical Review: Evaluate construction/installation plans, procedures, and requirements developed by the EPC contractor for constructability and compliance.

• Site Supervision: Monitor and inspect I&C works at fabrication yards and the final construction site, ensuring adherence to the EPC Scope of Work.

• System Validation: Oversee the functional testing of control loops, logic solvers, and safety-instrumented systems (SIS) during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.

• Interface Coordination: Manage the transition and handover of works from construction to the commissioning team and finally to the client’s operations department.

• Documentation & Compliance: Review “As-Built” drawings, loop folders, and commissioning certificates to ensure they meet international standards and client requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering .

• Experience: Proven track record in I&C commissioning within the Oil & Gas sector, specifically in a PMC or lead engineering capacity.

• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of DCS/PLC architectures, field instrumentation, control valves, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).

• Skills: Strong coordination, administration, and enforcement skills to manage large-scale EPC contractors.

• Industry Context: Experience in gas-to-liquids, decarbonization, or midstream/upstream projects is highly desirable.
