Job Description: Planning Engineer – Construction

A Confidential Leading Construction Firm in Abu Dhabi is seeking a high-caliber Planning Engineer to orchestrate the lifecycle of complex building and infrastructure projects. This role is the “nerve center” of our operations, where technical engineering knowledge meets strategic time and cost management.

As a Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for translating blueprints into actionable, time-phased reality. Using industry-standard tools like Primavera P6 , you will map out the Critical Path, forecast resource requirements, and act as an early-warning system for potential delays. You will not only track progress but also drive it—collaborating with site teams to ensure that our construction methodologies are as efficient as they are safe. If you possess a rigorous analytical mindset and the ability to find solutions under high-pressure deadlines, this role offers a pivotal position within Abu Dhabi’s booming construction sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule Development: Create and maintain comprehensive project schedules (Baseline and Working) using Primavera P6 , incorporating scope, deliverables, and resource loading.

  • Progress Monitoring: Conduct weekly and monthly progress assessments, comparing actual site performance against the baseline to identify variances.

  • Critical Path Analysis: Identify and monitor Critical Path activities to ensure project completion remains on track, providing proactive insights to project leadership.

  • Cost & Budget Control: Monitor project expenditures against the planned budget, providing detailed variance analysis and financial forecasting.

  • Scenario Planning: Perform “What-If” analysis to simulate the impact of design changes or external delays and propose robust mitigation strategies.

  • Method Statements: Review construction method statements to ensure the schedule reflects the most efficient and safe sequencing of site activities.

  • Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare high-level dashboards and detailed reports for clients, project managers, and subcontractors to communicate schedule health and risks.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering , Construction Management, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in construction planning and scheduling.

  • Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project.

  • Certifications: Professional certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PMI-SP (Scheduling Professional) is highly preferred.

  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of UAE construction methodologies, sequencing, and safety standards.

  • Communication: Fluent in English; ability to present complex data to diverse stakeholders clearly and effectively.
