Job Description: Part-time Music Instructor
Are you a distinguished scholar-practitioner with a deep appreciation for the global language of music? The Department of Communication within the College of Arts, Education and Social Sciences (CAESS) at Abu Dhabi University (ADU) is seeking an accomplished Part-time Music Instructor for the Spring semester.
As a faculty member at one of the region’s premier centers of academic excellence—and the only private institution in the UAE accredited by WSCUC—you will play a pivotal role in our General Education program. You will engage a diverse, cosmopolitan student body, fostering an understanding of musical theory, history, and practice. We are looking for an instructor who can bridge the gap between Western and Arab musical traditions, providing students with a rich, cross-cultural perspective on the sonic arts.
Key Responsibilities

Undergraduate Instruction: Deliver high-quality music courses to undergraduate students, ensuring alignment with internationally benchmarked academic standards.

Curriculum Delivery: Facilitate engaging lectures and practical sessions that cover both Western and Arab music traditions, musicology, or music appreciation.

Student Mentorship: Provide academic guidance to a diverse student population of over 6,000 learners from 60+ nationalities.

Academic Assessment: Design and implement fair assessment tools (exams, papers, performances) to measure student learning outcomes accurately.

Departmental Collaboration: Work with the Department of Communication to ensure the music curriculum supports the broader goals of the College of Arts, Education and Social Sciences.
Requirements & Qualifications

Academic Credentials: A Master’s degree or PhD in Music, Musicology, Ethnomusicology, Music Education, or a closely related field is mandatory.

Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrated strong knowledge of both Western and Arab music traditions is essential.

Teaching Experience: Prior experience teaching at the university level is highly preferred.

Communication Skills: Professional fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is considered a significant advantage.
