Job Duties

• Conduct Personalized Online Lessons: Facilitate one-on-one private piano instruction for students aged 10–15, focusing on foundational techniques and music theory.

• Develop Custom Curricula: Create age-appropriate lesson plans that cater to the student’s specific interests, whether in classical, pop, or contemporary genres.

• Implement Progressive Training: Teach essential skills including sight-reading, ear training, rhythm coordination, and correct finger posture through digital platforms.

• Provide Ongoing Mentorship: Offer patient, encouraging guidance to build the student’s confidence and sustain their eagerness to learn.

• Support Performance Prep: Prepare students for informal performances or formal music examinations (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity) as they progress.

• Monitor & Report Progress: Evaluate the student’s development regularly and maintain open communication with parents regarding milestones and practice goals.

• Optimize the Online Environment: Utilize high-quality audio/video tools and digital sheet music to ensure a seamless and professional remote learning experience.

Requirements

• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate a high level of skill in piano performance and a deep understanding of music theory and notation.

• Pedagogical Adaptability: Ability to simplify complex musical concepts for teenage learners and adapt teaching styles to an online format.

• Patient & Engaging Persona: Exhibit a genuine passion for teaching and the patience required to manage the learning curves of 10–15-year-old students.

• Digital Literacy: Proficiency in using video conferencing software (Zoom, Google Meet, Skype) and digital teaching aids.

• Consistency & Reliability: Commit to a regular weekly schedule for one-on-one sessions, ensuring continuity in the student’s learning journey.

• Communication Skills: Clear and professional verbal communication to provide real-time feedback and instructions remotely.

Qualifications

• Experience: Proven track record as a piano tutor, specifically with the 10–15 age group.

• Certification: A degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or high-level certification from a recognized board (e.g., Trinity Grade 8 or equivalent) is preferred.

• Hardware: Must possess a reliable internet connection and a high-quality camera/microphone setup for online delivery (the tutor is not required to have a piano on the student’s behalf).
