Job Duties

• Deliver IB-Aligned Instruction: Provide structured online Mathematics tutoring specifically tailored to the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework for an 8th-grade level.

• Build Mathematical Foundations: Focus on core IB MYP strands, including Number, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, and Probability and Statistics.

• Cultivate Inquiry-Based Learning: Use IB teaching methodologies to help the student develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application of mathematical concepts.

• Support School Curriculum: Align tutoring sessions with the student’s current school units, assisting with homework, internal assessments (IAs), and project-based learning.

• Exam & Assessment Prep: Prepare the student for IB-style questioning and criteria-based assessments (Criteria A, B, C, and D).

• Track Student Progress: Regularly assess the student’s understanding and provide detailed feedback to parents based in Abu Dhabi regarding performance milestones.

• Utilize Digital Teaching Tools: Effectively use virtual whiteboards (like Miro or Jamboard), graphing software (Desmos/GeoGebra), and online resources to make remote learning interactive.

Requirements

• IB Curriculum Expertise: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Mathematics curriculum and its assessment criteria.

• Pedagogical Skill: Ability to break down complex algebraic and geometric concepts into age-appropriate, digestible lessons for 13–14-year-olds.

• Online Instruction Mastery: Proficiency in managing remote learning environments and keeping students engaged through a screen.

• English Proficiency: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills to explain mathematical terminology clearly.

• Immediate Availability: Readiness to begin sessions immediately to support the student’s current academic term.

• Technological Reliability: Access to a stable high-speed internet connection, high-quality audio/video equipment, and a digital writing tablet for clear demonstrations.

Qualifications

• Academic Background: A degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Education, or a related STEM field is highly preferred.

• Teaching Experience: Proven track record of tutoring Class 8 students, specifically those following international curricula (IB, IGCSE, or MYP).

• Reference/Portfolio: Ability to demonstrate success in improving student grades or confidence in Mathematics.
