Job Duties

Deliver comprehensive music instruction for undergraduate courses within the Spring semester, focusing on both Western and Arab music traditions.

Develop and execute course syllabi that integrate musicology, performance, and ethnomusicological perspectives.

Facilitate interactive learning environments through lectures, music demonstrations, and student-led performance reviews.

Evaluate student academic progress via performance assessments, written examinations, and creative projects.

Provide academic mentorship to students, guiding them in the technical and cultural nuances of global music systems.

Maintain rigorous academic standards in alignment with Abu Dhabi University’s accreditation and institutional benchmarks.

Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the broader academic community of the College of Arts, Education, and Social Sciences.

Utilize university learning management systems (LMS) to manage course materials, attendance, and grading.
Requirements

Possess deep subject matter expertise in music theory, history, and the specific tonal systems of Arab music (Maqamat).

Demonstrate superior English language proficiency to deliver academic lectures and provide written student feedback.

Adapt teaching methodologies for a diverse, cosmopolitan student body representing over 60 nationalities.

Manage classroom dynamics with professional groundedness, fostering an inclusive environment for musical exploration.

Navigate university-level administrative tasks including course registration, grade submission, and student consultation.

Exhibit cultural sensitivity and a bridge-building mindset between different global musical traditions.

Maintain reliable attendance and professional accountability throughout the designated Spring semester.
Qualifications

Academic Credential: Hold a Master’s degree (minimum) or a PhD in Music, Musicology, Ethnomusicology, or a closely related field.

Experience: Previous teaching experience at the university level is strongly preferred.

Technical Skill: Mastery of Western music notation and Arab musical traditions is mandatory.

Language: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is considered a distinct advantage.
