Job Description: Lead Mechanical Inspection Engineer

In this critical leadership role, you will be the final line of defense for the structural and mechanical integrity of Oil & Gas assets. You will oversee multi-million dollar contracts, ensuring that every pressure vessel, pipeline, and mechanical assembly complies with rigorous UAE regulations and international standards. Your Technical & Inspection Mission

Compliance & Authority Management

  • Regulatory Governance: Ensure all mechanical inspections and site activities are strictly aligned with ADNOC standards, UAE Civil Defense requirements, and international codes (e.g., API, ASME).

  • Authority Liaison: Navigate Abu Dhabi authority procedures and permit requirements to ensure seamless site access and project continuity.

  • Contract Oversight: Manage inspection-based contracts, ensuring that vendors and sub-contractors deliver high-quality reports and adhere to the project’s technical scope.

Site Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • In-Depth Inspections: Lead on-site mechanical inspections, identifying corrosion, fatigue, or mechanical defects before they impact operational safety.

  • NDT Coordination: Oversee Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities, interpreting results from ultrasonic, radiographic, and magnetic particle testing to verify asset health.

  • Quality Monitoring: Conduct daily site monitoring to ensure that installation and maintenance activities meet the approved Quality Control (QC) plans.

Strategic Reporting & Leadership

  • Technical Synthesis: Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and integrity assessments, providing actionable recommendations to project management.

  • Risk Mitigation: Identify critical points in the mechanical lifecycle and implement proactive inspection schedules to prevent downtime.

  • Team Communication: Act as the primary technical point of contact for stakeholders, translating complex inspection data into clear operational insights.


What You Bring to Penspen

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Veteran Experience: Minimum 10+ years in the Oil & Gas industry, with a heavy focus on mechanical inspection and integrity.

  • Local Expertise: Proven experience navigating UAE-specific engineering standards and authority procedures.

  • Certifications: Specialized certifications such as API 510 (Pressure Vessel), API 570 (Piping), or CSWIP/PCN (NDT) are highly preferred.

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to lead technical meetings and draft high-stakes reports.
