gistec, the preeminent provider of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the official distributor of Esri in the UAE, is seeking a high-caliber IT System Administrator. This role is central to maintaining the robust infrastructure that powers cutting-edge mapping and spatial analytics for clients across the Emirates.

As the IT System Administrator, you will be the primary guardian of gistec’s digital ecosystem. You will manage a sophisticated hybrid environment that blends on-premise high-performance server racks with modern Cloud VM deployments. This position requires a “security-first” mindset, as you will be responsible for fortifying network perimeters using Sophos and FortiGate firewalls, ensuring seamless Microsoft 365 collaboration, and maintaining the integrity of mission-critical GIS data through rigorous backup and encryption protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Network Architecture: Manage and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, WiFi, and VLANs. Configure and monitor Sophos & FortiGate firewalls and maintain secure IPSec tunnels.

• Infrastructure Management: Oversee server rack organization, structured cabling, and patch panels. Provision and optimize both Local and Cloud Virtual Machines (VMs).

• Microsoft 365 Administration: Lead the management of Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams, ensuring strict access control and security enforcement.

• Security & Compliance: Monitor email security/spam, enforce BitLocker encryption, manage restore operations, and lead security awareness communications for the Group.

• Unified Communications: Manage Avaya/PABX telephony systems and maintain state-of-the-art meeting room conferencing technology.

• IT Operations & Procurement: Handle the full IT asset lifecycle (laptops to mobile), manage license renewals/subscriptions, and lead vendor negotiations for technical procurement.

• Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of infrastructure topology, incident reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 4 years of professional experience in IT System Administration.

• Core Certifications (Mandatory):

  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).

  • Microsoft Security Certification (Specifically AZ-500, SC-200, or SC-300).

  • Fortinet NSE 4 or Sophos Certified Engineer (Firewall specialist).

• Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of FTP storage provisioning, backup monitoring, and resource optimization.

• Attributes: Strong analytical troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced technology distribution environment.
