Key Responsibilities

• Instructional Excellence: Deliver engaging, standards-based Physical Education lessons to High School students (Grades 9–12), focusing on skill development, fitness theory, and sportsmanship.

• Curriculum Innovation: Develop and implement creative teaching strategies that cater to a diverse range of athletic abilities, utilizing both US Common Core and IB framework principles.

• Athletic Coaching: Contribute to the school’s competitive sports program (Leagues like EAC or DASSA), coaching varsity or junior varsity teams in sports such as volleyball, basketball, soccer, or track and field.

• Inclusive Environment: Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages participation from all students and promotes a positive body image and mental well-being.

• Assessment & Tracking: Use digital tools and data to track student physical progress and health literacy, providing meaningful feedback to students and parents.

• Collaboration: Work closely with the Athletics Director and fellow PE staff to organize school-wide events, sports days, and inter-school competitions.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Physical Education or a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology/Sports Science coupled with a recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, State License, etc.).

• Experience: * Proven experience teaching at the High School level (secondary).

  • Familiarity with the American Curriculum or International Baccalaureate (IB) is highly preferred.

  • Experience in coaching competitive school sports is a distinct advantage.

• Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, a high level of personal fitness, and the ability to use educational technology to enhance the PE experience.

• Dispositions: A “sales-minded” approach to promoting health and wellness within the community and a commitment to global citizenship.
