SOCOTEC , a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) for the construction and infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer for its Abu Dhabi operations. This role is pivotal for ensuring the structural integrity of the UAE’s ambitious urban and industrial expansions, ranging from high-rise foundations to complex marine infrastructure.

As a Geotechnical Engineer at SOCOTEC, you are the technical authority on the ground. You will translate complex soil and rock data into actionable engineering designs. Your expertise ensures that the “unseen” part of every project—the foundation—is safe, compliant, and optimized for the unique soil conditions of the Arabian Peninsula. Key Responsibilities

• Geotechnical Investigations: Plan and supervise site investigations, including borehole drilling, Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) , and Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) .

• Engineering Analysis: Perform calculations for bearing capacity, slope stability, and settlement for a variety of structures.

• Report Review & Certification: Review and approve geotechnical interpretive reports, ensuring they meet both client requirements and international standards (ASTM, BS, Eurocodes).

• Compliance & Regulations: Ensure all site activities and designs strictly adhere to Abu Dhabi International Building Codes (ADIBC) and municipal regulations.

• Technical Advisory: Attend project meetings with clients, developers, and lead consultants to provide expert guidance on soil-structure interaction.

• Quality Control: Oversee laboratory testing of soil and rock samples, ensuring the accuracy of data used for design parameters.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s degree is a plus).

• Experience: Proven experience in geotechnical site investigation and engineering design, preferably within the Middle East.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in geotechnical software (eg, Plaxis, Slope/W, or AllPile ) and a deep understanding of soil mechanics.

• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with the geological profile of Abu Dhabi (eg, Gypsiferous soils, Carbonate rocks).

• Soft Skills: Strong organizational ability to manage multiple sites simultaneously and excellent communication for client-facing technical discussions.
