Fire Safety Engineer

Abu Dhabi Airports Company

Job Description: Fire Safety Engineer

Are you a life-safety expert ready to protect one of the world’s most critical transport hubs? Abu Dhabi Airports Company is seeking a Fire Safety Engineer to safeguard the infrastructure, operations, and millions of passengers across our airport facilities.

In this role, you aren’t just checking boxes; you are the guardian of the Airport Fire Safety Strategy. You will provide high-level technical expertise to identify fire risks, develop mitigation blueprints, and ensure that every asset—from massive passenger terminals to fuel farms—complies with UAE Civil Defense, NFPA, and GCAA regulations. If you have the technical depth to review complex smoke control systems and the leadership skills to coordinate with national authorities, this is your opportunity to play a vital role in Abu Dhabi’s aviation safety.

Your Technical & Safety Mission

Engineering Assessment & Compliance

  • Regulatory Governance: Ensure 100% compliance across all airport assets with the UAE Fire & Life Safety Code of Practice, NFPA standards, and the Abu Dhabi EHSMS Regulatory Framework.

  • Fire Engineering Design: Review and approve designs for specialized fire protection systems, including automatic sprinklers, deluge systems, foam suppression, and smoke management/staircase pressurization.

  • Hazard Evaluation: Conduct rigorous Civil Defense hazard evaluations and provide the technical documentation required to secure and maintain building certifications.

Operational Safety & Inspection

  • System Integrity: Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of fire detection, alarm, and voice evacuation systems.

  • Fire Stop Assemblies: Supervise the inspection of fire stop systems to maintain required fire-resistance ratings, ensuring any breaches are remediated immediately to prevent smoke or fire spread.

  • Ready for Response: Conduct regular inspections of hydrants and firefighting equipment to guarantee total operational readiness for emergency scenarios.

Strategic Coordination & Documentation

  • Authority Liaison: Lead technical coordination with UAE Civil Defense and the GCAA during design reviews, site inspections, and the certification process.

  • Logic & Interface Review: Review fire system cause-and-effect matrices and interface logic to ensure all life safety systems (elevators, HVAC, alarms) interact correctly during an emergency.

  • Emergency Planning: Support the development of intervention and evacuation procedures across all airport subsidiaries.

What You Bring to Abu Dhabi Airports

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Fire Science, or a related engineering discipline.

  • Professional Credentials: NEBOSH Fire & Safety Risk Management certification is highly preferred. Affiliation with NFPA, IFE, or IFSM is a strong advantage.

  • Experience: * Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of fire systems.

    • Proven track record in developing Fire Safety Strategies and technical reports.

    • Deep knowledge of the UAE Civil Defense Fire Code and GCAA requirements.

  • Aviation Expertise: Prior experience in airport fire and life safety or emergency management is highly desirable.

  • Leadership: Strong coordination skills to bridge the gap between design teams, contractors, and government authorities.
