Core Leadership & Teaching Mandates

Departmental Strategy & Mentorship

• Curriculum Mapping: Lead the design and alignment of the English curriculum, ensuring seamless transitions between key stages and rigorous preparation for external exams.

• Staff Empowerment: Drive departmental growth through active mentoring, structured lesson observations, and the implementation of high-quality teaching practices.

• Performance Review: Manage staff development cycles, fostering a culture of continuous professional improvement and accountability.

Academic Excellence

• Instructional Leadership: Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that embody the IB learner profile and promote student-centered, inquiry-based learning.

• Data-Informed Progress: Utilize sophisticated formative and summative assessment tools to monitor achievement levels and intervene where necessary to accelerate student progress.

• Exam Mastery: Take primary responsibility for the success of students in IGCSE and A-Level English , ensuring all learners are equipped for peak performance.

Classroom & Culture

Candidate Requirements

Essential Criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in English (or related field) plus a PGCE/PGDE or equivalent teaching qualification.

• Leadership Experience: Minimum of 2 years as an HOD and 3 years of Secondary teaching experience.

• Curriculum Expertise: Proven track record teaching IGCSE and A-Level English is mandatory.

• Communication: Native-level or fluent English proficiency with exceptional interpersonal skills.

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience with the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) .

• Previous experience in high-performing international school environments.
