Are you a strategic clinical leader capable of balancing medical excellence with operational growth? American Hospital Dubai is seeking a visionary Director of Laboratory Services & Outreach. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer and collaborating closely with the Chief of Pathology, you will be the driving force behind a laboratory that is high-quality, cost-effective, and strategically positioned for regional expansion.

This role requires a unique blend of clinical mastery and business acumen. You will oversee the entire laboratory ecosystem—from internal quality management and patient safety to the aggressive growth of our outreach and marketing programs. As the steward of our CAP and JCIA accreditations, you will ensure that our laboratory remains a benchmark for diagnostic excellence in the Middle East.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Growth & Outreach: Formulate and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for laboratory outreach, marketing services to external clinics and partners to drive revenue and market share.

• Quality Management (QM) & Compliance: Oversee the Laboratory Quality Management plan and liaise with the Performance Improvement department to ensure 100% compliance with CAP (College of American Pathologists) and JCIA standards.

• Operational Efficiency: Evaluate laboratory layout and workflow for maximum efficiency. Manage the lab’s CAPEX requirements and direct the cost-per-test metrics through rigorous benchmarking.

• Dashboard Development: Design and maintain a lab-specific dashboard that tracks Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to service, quality, growth, cost, and people.

• Patient Safety & Policies: Lead the development of critical policies and procedures, particularly those pertaining to patient safety, transfusion services, and ethical practices.

• Leadership & Culture: Support and mentor laboratory staff at all levels. Provide educational and developmental opportunities while delegating management responsibilities to supervisory staff to maintain high morale.

• Network Integration: Plan and coordinate staffing and services for the laboratory sections within American Hospital’s satellite clinics.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Certification: North American Board Certification (or equivalent Western Board Certification) in Clinical Pathology is mandatory.

• Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Clinical Pathologist in a CAP-accredited laboratory.

  • At least three (3) years specifically serving as a Director of Laboratory Services & Outreach.

• Technical Expertise: Proven track record in quality improvement methodologies, implementation of clinical protocols, and development of administrative policies.

• Leadership: Demonstrated experience in performance evaluation, competency assessment, and managing high-performing multidisciplinary teams.

• Language: Fluency in English; ability to communicate complex medical and financial data to executive leadership.
