Job Description: Bilingual Duty Engineer (Turkish – UAE Facility Ops)
Are you an engineering professional who balances technical expertise with a commitment to guest excellence? Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is looking for a Bilingual Duty Engineer to join our facility operations team in Abu Dhabi. This is a critical “on-the-shift” leadership role within a luxury resort environment, where maintaining world-class standards is the daily baseline.
In this position, you will be the primary technical responder during your shift, ensuring that the hotel’s complex MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems, life safety protocols, and guest-facing facilities operate flawlessly. We are specifically looking for a Turkish and English-speaking engineer who can provide seamless communication for our international guests and technical partners while maintaining the physical integrity of a five-star asset.
Key Responsibilities

Shift Leadership: Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of the resort’s physical plant, including HVAC, electrical distribution, and water treatment systems.

Technical Troubleshooting: Act as the first responder for technical failures, diagnosing issues in real-time and coordinating rapid repairs to minimize guest impact.

Bilingual Communication: Utilize fluency in Turkish and English to bridge communication gaps between regional management, international contractors, and luxury travelers.

System Monitoring: Regularly inspect and monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Fire Life Safety (FLS) systems to ensure 100% compliance with UAE civil defense standards.

Preventative Maintenance: Execute and document scheduled maintenance tasks (PPM) to prolong equipment life and maintain the resort’s high-end aesthetic.

Resource Coordination: Manage the engineering duty team and external vendors during the shift, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
Requirements & Qualifications

Language Skills: Full professional fluency in Turkish and English is mandatory.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.

Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience in facility operations, preferably within a 5-star hotel or luxury residential environment.

Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of MEP systems, kitchen/laundry equipment, and swimming pool maintenance.

Problem Solving: Proven ability to remain calm under pressure and make effective decisions during technical emergencies.
