Job Description: Associate – Building Technology Systems (BTS)

WSP Middle East is looking for a strategic and technically proficient Associate – Building Technology Systems (BTS) to join the Property & Buildings business unit in Sharjah. WSP is a global leader in consultancy and engineering, and this role is central to designing the “brains” of modern architecture.

In this position, you will move beyond traditional engineering to integrate “Smart Building” philosophies into the built environment. You will be responsible for the high-level design and delivery of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Extra-Low Voltage (ELV) systems, and Creative Audiovisual (AV) technologies. As an Associate, you will lead complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and act as a subject matter expert for clients looking to future-proof their assets through digital transformation and sustainable technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrated System Design: Lead the design and engineering of ICT infrastructure, ELV systems (Security, Access Control, CCTV), and advanced AV solutions for high-profile commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments.

• Smart Building Strategy: Develop and implement “Smart” technology roadmaps that integrate Building Management Systems (BMS) with IoT (Internet of Things) frameworks to enhance energy efficiency and occupant experience.

• Project Leadership: Manage the BTS project lifecycle from initial concept and feasibility through to detailed design, tender support, and construction-phase oversight.

• Client Consultancy: Act as a trusted advisor to developers and architects, translating complex technology requirements into cost-effective, scalable engineering solutions.

• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) and Architectural teams to ensure seamless integration of technology within the physical building structure.

• Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous technical reviews of drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with international standards and local UAE regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.

• Experience: Significant experience in BTS/ICT/ELV design, ideally within a major consultancy environment in the Middle East.

• Technical Expertise: * Deep knowledge of structured cabling, active networking, and wireless systems.

  • Familiarity with Smart Building protocols (e.g., KNX, BACnet, Zigbee).

  • Understanding of physical security standards and AV over IP (AVoIP) technologies.

• Software Proficiency: Proficiency in industry-standard design software (Revit/BIM) and specialized ICT/AV simulation tools.

• Professional Attributes: Strong leadership capabilities, excellent technical writing skills in English, and the ability to manage senior-level stakeholders.
