Accounting Manager

The American University in Dubai (AUD) is seeking a qualified Accounting Manager to join our Department of Finance. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will be the primary guardian of AUD’s financial integrity and bookkeeping excellence.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee the daily heartbeat of the university’s financial operations. From managing vendor relationships and fixed asset registers to ensuring every transaction is precisely recorded in Great Plains Dynamics, your work will provide the data-driven foundation for the university’s leadership. We are looking for an analytical, detail-oriented leader who thrives under pressure and enjoys the dynamic atmosphere of a truly multicultural campus.

Principal Responsibilities

• Financial Record Keeping: Execute and oversee the overall bookkeeping for AUD, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded using Great Plains Dynamics Software.

• Accounts Payable Management: Direct the AP function, ensuring that all vendor statements are reconciled monthly and purchase requisitions strictly adhere to AUD’s purchasing policies.

• Cash & Banking Control: Reconcile monthly bank statements with high efficiency (by the 2nd business day of the month), control the petty cash fund, and prepare vendor checks for executive signature.

• Fixed Asset Oversight: Maintain and rigorously control the Fixed Assets Register, ensuring accurate depreciation and tracking of university property.

• Student Financial Services: Analyze and process student refunds, ensuring a seamless and accurate experience for the student body.

• Special Projects: Take the lead on miscellaneous financial projects as assigned by the CFO to support the university’s strategic goals.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting from an accredited Western institution is essential.

• Experience: Proven professional accounting experience, preferably within a higher education or corporate setting in the UAE.

• Technical Mastery: High proficiency in accounting software (specifically Great Plains Dynamics) and the Microsoft Office suite.

• Multicultural Adaptability: Proven ability to work and communicate effectively within a diverse, international community.

• Analytical Prowess: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and maintain extreme attention to detail.
