Job Description: Legal Counsel – Leaf

BAT is evolving rapidly as a global multi-category business focused on building a smokeless world. Ceylon Tobacco Company is seeking a Legal Counsel to join the Kandy site team.

Role Overview:
You will provide legal advice and lead compliance efforts related to local laws and BAT policies. Your role involves managing litigation, securing the organization’s commercial legal interests, including intellectual property, land, licenses, and contracts, and supporting senior legal counsel.

Key Responsibilities:

Advise the business on legal and regulatory compliance.
Manage litigation cases and provide guidance on outcomes.
Protect intellectual property, land holdings, licenses, and contracts.
Maintain thorough knowledge of laws applicable to tobacco manufacture and sales.
Support Senior Legal Counsel in resolving legal issues.
Oversee external counsels and advise leadership on their selection.
Collaborate with business units and keep teams updated on legal changes.

Experience and Skills Required:

2-3 years of experience in litigation and court procedures.
Strong legal advisory skills.
Excellent drafting, research, and negotiation abilities.
Analytical and interpretative thinking.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
