Job Description: Estate Manager (Part-Time)
Location: Near Kandy, Sri Lanka
Job Type: Part-Time / Consultant (1–2 days per week)

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Estate Manager to oversee operations of a tea estate near Kandy. This part-time consultancy role is ideal for a retired or semi-retired professional with strong expertise in tea estate management and a desire to contribute to a growing operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and guide the estate supervisor on day-to-day estate operations including plucking, labor management, and maintenance.
- Advise on agricultural best practices to improve tea yield and quality (e.g., pruning, soil health, pest control).
- Recommend efficient fertilizer and agrochemical use; support in cost-effective procurement.
- Manage relationships with tea factories including price negotiations, quality discussions, and logistics.
- Ensure adherence to labor laws, agricultural regulations, and environmental standards.
- Conduct field inspections, evaluate performance, and address operational issues.
- Submit brief monthly reports including production updates, observations, and recommendations.
Candidate Requirements:
- 20+ years of experience in tea estate management, preferably in Sri Lanka’s mid-grown regions.
- In-depth knowledge of tea cultivation techniques and commercial estate operations.
- Familiarity with plantation labor laws, environmental compliance, and statutory guidelines.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills; capable of managing factory relations.
- Residing near Kandy or within easy commuting distance.
- Fluent in Sinhala and proficient in spoken and written English.
