Job Description

Cargills, a legacy brand with over 180 years of excellence in Sri Lanka, is seeking a proactive and people-focused Assistant Manager – Human Resources to join its Manufacturing/Production team. This role is ideal for an HR professional with hands-on experience in factory HR operations and a passion for fostering a positive and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end talent acquisition for non-executive roles within the factory
Liaise with outsourcing agencies to ensure availability and performance of manpower
Oversee onboarding, employee grooming, ID card/uniform distribution, and hygiene standards
Enhance employee relations and support well-being and work-life balance initiatives
Supervise site-level facilities: security, cleaning, transport, cafeteria, hostel, and maintenance
Coordinate learning & development and employee engagement programs
Monitor probation, contracts, and employee movements to ensure compliance
Handle disciplinary issues, grievances, and industrial relations cases in a timely manner
Conduct offboarding processes and manage HR documentation and database integrity
Act as a key HR contact for team members and provide support to factory leadership
Ensure alignment with HR policies, company values, and group-level strategies
Engage with external stakeholders including local communities and government bodies
Collaborate with Central HR for cross-functional projects

Candidate Profile

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management (Professional HR qualification such as CIPM is a plus)
Minimum 5 years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity within a manufacturing or production environment
Strong knowledge of employee relations, industrial relations, and labour regulations
Fluency in English and Sinhala (Tamil is an advantage)
Strong IT skills, especially in MS Office and Microsoft 365
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and work independently
Willing to work onsite at the Kelanimulla dairy factory
